5 Tips for Holistic Dental Self-Care

by Feb 14, 2023

We’ve all been told since we had teeth how to care for our them. But did you know that oral care is holistic health care? The teeth hold special importance to our overall health and especially our gut health.

So what does a daily holistic dental routine look like?

  1. For starters, we want to concentrate on removing any microorganisms that are not beneficial to our health from in between the teeth and gums, and on top of the tongue. Flossing works for most of us to aid in removing debris and starting to disrupt sticky microorganisms hanging out between teeth and in the gumline. A water pick will work as well if needed.

Be sure to rinse after each step of your routine. You don’t want to swallow any of the gunk being dredged up by the flossing and scraping!

  2. Tongue Scraping – as the name implies, this technique scrapes the goo and gunk off the tongue. Again, don’t swallow anything removed.
    Rinse!
  3. Absorb the released toxins by performing teeth pulling, or chewing 5-10 chlorella tabs. Do not swallow! Spit out all material and the toxic stuff it pulled out of your oral crevices and from between your teeth.
    Rinse!
  4. Brush your teeth using a soft, earth-friendly tooth brush and naturopathic toothpaste or baking soda. Spend more time here! Set a timer… 2 minutes in each area minimum!
    Rinse!
  5. Final rinse with hypochlorous, HOCl. HOCl is naturally made by the bodies white blood cells to help break down the cell walls of invading pathogens ultimately destroying them. It gained increased attention and popularity during the COVID-19 outbreak when it was found to be a proven disinfectant and anti-microbial now used widely by the health and dental care systems.

    Benefits of HOCl:

    Destroys bacteria and viruses
    Speeds up wound healing
    Reduces Inflammation

HOCl can be applied to the skin for acne, psoriasis, bites/allergies, abrasions, cuts, and burns. You can also spray it up your nose and swish it orally to fight infection and inflammation in the sinuses.

The benefits of good oral care are much more than a bright smile and pleasant breath. Holistic oral hygiene also contributes to good gut, heart, brain, and social health.
